Monsal Dale from Monsal Head

Lying between Beresord Dale and Dove Dale, Wolfscote Dale is less famous than its southerly neighbour but equally as beautiful. Pictured here the junction with Biggin Dale is perhaps the most striking part of this lovely dale.

Short but very sweet, Bradford Dale like Lathkill Dale comes to an end at Alport where the two rivers merge. Like Lathkill the dale has stretches of crystal clear water over-hung by trees, a peaceful and tranquil place for a walk.

 

Beresford Dale

In this section of the Dove below Hartington, the river narrows and is at what some believe to be its most beautiful. Upstream is the Pike Pool, named for the pinnacle of rock or ""Pike"" rising from the centre.

The start of Dove Dale as seen from the lower slopes of Thorpe Cloud. The dale is the most popular in the Peak District and is owned by the National Trust. The River Dove runs through the ravine for just over 3 miles from Milldale in the north to Thorpe Cloud in the south. Dovedale is famous for its stepping stones and numerous rock formations including the Tissington Spires, Reynard's cave, Dove Holes and Pickering Tors to name a few. Gary's images have been used to illustrate the Dovedale Guide and his collection includes all the key features of this dale.
