Fairbrook, previously named Farre Brook is a long stream originating from the Kinder plateau. Kinder Scout at 2088 ft is the highest point in the Peak District and Derbyshire. The Pennine Way starts at Edale and crosses the Kinder plateau.

Alport Dale is southern Bleaklow's most outstanding feature. Progressing from the gentle pastures by Alport Castles Farm, past the shattered cliffs of Alport Castles to the steeply v-shaped middle and upper valley with deep pools and waterfalls.

Wessenden Moor and Reservoir are located south of Marsden. The valley was created by the Wessenden Brook, a tributary of the River Colne. The Pennine Way follows the valley on its journey to Marsden.
